As an unarmed patrol officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that helps reduce security-related incidents. You will support staff and residents with professional customer service, clear communication, and timely reporting. Requirements

  • Hold a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, staff, and/or visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, conflicts, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using de-escalation and clear communication while following post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations, noting that working conditions may vary by site.
  • Control access by monitoring entry and exit points, verifying authorization, managing visitor sign-in when required, and reporting irregularities to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
  • Document security-related observations, incidents, and patrol activity in written reports and/or electronic logs, and communicate timely updates during shift transitions.
