Job Description As a Security Officer - Transit Patrol in Durham, NC , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Transportation, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy transportation location, you will conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols, stay highly visible, and help to deter security-related incidents across the property. You will monitor activity, respond to concerns, and communicate clearly with staff and visitors while delivering outstanding customer service. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to clients by carrying out post orders, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities in a transportation location.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical situations, disturbances, and/or suspicious activity.
Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, terminals, parking areas, loading and/or delivery zones, and perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
Monitor access points and verify identification, passes, and/or visitor credentials in accordance with site procedures.
Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic as needed, including directing drivers to designated areas and helping maintain orderly movement through entrances and exits.
Observe and report conditions that may help to deter unwanted activity, including unsecured doors, damaged fencing, blocked egress routes, and/or unauthorized persons.
Complete detailed activity logs, incident reports, and shift turnover notes according to Allied Universal and site requirements.
Use radios, phones, and/or other communication tools to coordinate with site contacts, dispatch, and responding public agencies when required.
Perform interior and exterior checks of doors, gates, and critical areas, and report maintenance or operational concerns to appropriate personnel.
Monitor cameras, alarms, and/or other site systems when assigned, and escalate concerns through the established chain of communication.
Provide directions and general assistance to employees, visitors, and vendors while maintaining a professional presence.
Participate in required training and follow Allied Universal policies related to appearance, conduct, and security-related procedures.
