About The Position

The Security Officer at ProMedica Toledo Hospital is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the hospital's property, employees, patients, and visitors. This part-time position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The officer will patrol assigned areas, monitor visitor conduct, and respond to incidents to ensure a secure environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in security or a related field preferred, or two years' experience in security of a related field.
  • CPR Certification is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of patients, staff, customers, and visitors under potentially stressful situations.
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare security environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control and hazardous material measures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security for all ProMedica properties, employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling assigned areas and acting when necessary.
  • Assists employees, staff, patients, and visitors while promoting customer service and satisfaction.
  • Adheres to all policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
  • Regulates and controls vehicular and pedestrian traffic, providing parking enforcement and traffic control when necessary.
  • Investigates and reports all accidents, safety/fire hazards, and incidents involving loss, theft, damage, injury, and recovered property.
  • Completes all required training and maintains certifications as defined by organizational policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of all equipment procedures and ensures that all issued equipment remains operational.
  • Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as needed.
  • Unlocks vehicles and provides basic vehicle maintenance or assistance such as jump-starts and air in tires.
  • Provides escorts to personnel as needed.
  • Secures found items and valuables, completing appropriate documentation.
  • Assists with the restraint of combative patients and provides observation for patients as needed.
  • Attends meetings as required and performs other duties as assigned.
