About The Position

Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm. This position is located at the Valley Regional Healthcare campus in Claremont, NH. Responsible for leading and supporting a team of security officers in an effort to maintain the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff, and hospital property.

Requirements

  • High school graduate required
  • 3 years of related experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required, in accordance with D-H's Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
  • AVADE Certification – levels I, II, and III.
  • Certified in the use of Tasers, Hand Cuffs, Pepper Gel.
  • CPR/AED Certified.
  • Must complete all required training and pass minimal physical requirements within 90 days from date of hire and as required thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work schedules and assist resolving staffing issues, work priority and post assignments with team.
  • Identify and facilitate the order of supplies, equipment and other resources within approved and allocated budget.
  • Provide technical guidance, oversight and mentoring to team members.
  • Provide site specific field training to new officers and identify further training opportunities.
  • Provide input to leadership regarding performance and/or need for disciplinary action.
  • Patrols all areas of the Medical Center and/or other DH Campus locations looking for illegal/inappropriate activity and security/safety concerns.
  • Uses watch tour and/or card reader system to document patrol activity.
  • Proactively provides information, assistance and guidance.
  • Makes rounds to ensure the safety and security and provide assistance to patients, visitors, staff and guests.
  • Responds to, investigates and documents security incidents and completes a thorough Daily Activity report.
  • Assists Nursing units, clinical care areas, and other departments with uncooperative, combative or violent patients.
  • Uses AVADE (awareness, vigilance, avoidance, defense, escape) techniques to educate, prevent and mitigate disruptive behavior and workplace violence.
  • Provides patient watch activities to prevent elopement or injury to self/others.
  • At the direction of the medical staff, applies restraints.
  • Calls Lebanon Police Department as situation warrants.
  • Deals with custody disputes and/or domestic disturbances amongst the patients, their families and friends.
  • Searches patients, visitors, staff, belongs, equipment and/or property as appropriate.
  • Responds to emergencies and code calls.
  • Performs CPR, to include the use of AED’s.
  • For medical incidents outside the building, contacts the Lebanon Fire Department for ambulance response.
  • Monitors all parking lots for compliance with Medical Center parking regulations.
  • Provides advice and guidance to patients, visitors and guests.
  • Ticket unauthorized parked cars.
  • Watch for and follow up on safety hazard parking situations.
  • Provide vehicle assistance services.
  • Assists Parking Officers with parking control as requested.
  • Assists DHART with helicopter arrivals and departures.
  • Releases deceased patients and accepts incoming deceased patients.
  • Completes all required/requested forms, reports and documents.
  • Completes assigned ‘CINC’ duties
  • Responds to duress alarms, other emergency situations and routine dispatch needs.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
