About The Position

UPMC Wellsboro is currently hiring for a full-time Security Officer to join our Safety & Security team. This is an unarmed, variable shift position with rotational weekend & holiday commitments! The purpose of this role is to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees while protecting hospital assets and confidential information.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• High level of integrity required for handling sensitive/confidential UPMC information.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to effectively interact, communicate, and diffuse potential combative situations.
• Psychological fitness required to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations.
• Physical fitness requirements to deal with typical physical demands that require full body motion and physical strength and stamina sufficient to respond to crisis interventions and medical emergencies.
• Be able to effectively communicate both orally and in written format.
• Good interpersonal skills; able to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations.
• All applicants will be subject to a thorough background and criminal record check.
• Must be available for all shifts.
• Officers are required to wear a bullet proof vest.

• Completes comprehensive patrols of assigned hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire and accidents, vandalism, theft, loitering and other crimes.
• Monitors the conduct of visitors on hospital premises.
• Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, as needed.
• Participates in investigations if necessary.
• Assists in the handling/restraining of unruly or violent individuals applying approved restraint techniques.
• Escorts patients, visitors, and employees to parking lots and hospital buildings, as needed.
• Controls parking and traffic flow, enforcing parking regulations.
