About The Position

As a Security Officer - Shelter Wellness Rounds in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. Join Allied Universal supporting a shelter location with high-visibility, unarmed patrols that help reduce security-related incidents and support staff and residents. You will complete routine rounds, watch for irregular activity, respond to calls for assistance, and document observations while providing respectful customer service and clear communication. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have 1+ years of security experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by following site-specific procedures and supporting a respectful, trauma-informed environment.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site leadership and/or emergency services as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, entrances, stairwells, and perimeter areas to help to deter unwanted activity.
  • Monitor access points and manage visitor entry by verifying authorization, maintaining sign-in logs, and directing individuals to the appropriate locations.
  • Complete detailed reports of incidents, patrol activity, and notable observations, and communicate timely updates to supervisors and on-site personnel regarding security-related concerns.
