About The Position

The Security Officer ensures that Guthrie's Campuses are safe and secure for patients, employees, and visitors by routinely patrolling all buildings and grounds and responding to requests for assistance. The position reports to the Regional Coordinator for Security or their designee. Applicants must be willing to submit to fingerprinting for a background check.

Requirements

• Classroom training in a field relevant to security functions with coursework in behavioral sciences preferred.
• NYS registration as a security guard required for New York sites.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalency preferred.
• One or more years of experience in institutional security, preferably in a healthcare facility.
• Working knowledge of departmental functions within a hospital or healthcare facility.
• Working knowledge of state and federal security regulations affecting hospitals.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in effectively interacting with people.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard confidential information and maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
• Act courteously and friendly towards patients, visitors, and employees.
• Tour the Campus Hospital and grounds frequently to ensure safety and security.
• Assist in transporting patients within the building or to and from vehicles as requested.
• Respond promptly and courteously to calls for assistance from hospital personnel.
• Restrain patients, visitors, or employees when necessary to protect personnel or property.
• Complete detailed reports of incidents occurring during work shifts.
• Utilize time effectively to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Exhibit initiative in performing all duties and assist co-workers.
• Demonstrate good judgment and assess situations appropriately.
• Maintain desired attendance level and comply with annual physical assessment requirements.
