As a Front Desk Officer at an education location, you will be the welcoming first point of contact, supporting a calm, professional atmosphere for students, faculty, and visitors. You will manage access procedures, verify credentials, respond to requests, and communicate incidents and/or concerns with clear, customer-focused service. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an education location.
  • Staff the front desk and serve as the primary point of contact for building access requests, visitor questions, and security-related concerns.
  • Greet and screen visitors, verify identification as required, and issue visitor badges and/or temporary credentials in accordance with site procedures.
  • Manage access control at the front desk by monitoring entry and exit points, controlling key and/or badge issuance when assigned, and documenting exceptions per policy.
  • Monitor security-related systems from the front desk, including cameras, alarms, and intercoms, and report irregular activity through established channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating notifications to site contacts and/or emergency services when directed by policy.
  • Maintain accurate written and/or electronic logs of visitors, deliveries, incidents, and daily activity, and complete required reports in a timely manner.
  • Support a professional environment by providing directions to classrooms, studios, galleries, and administrative offices while following site rules for restricted areas.
  • Process and coordinate deliveries, service vendors, and scheduled appointments by confirming authorization and directing them to appropriate locations per procedure.
  • Communicate clearly with site personnel and Allied Universal supervision to escalate concerns, share status updates, and support continuity between shifts.
  • Assist with room, event, and/or exhibit access requests by verifying approvals and coordinating with site contacts as needed.
  • Follow post orders and applicable regulations while maintaining a courteous, service-focused presence that can help to deter unauthorized access and/or disruptive behavior.
