As a Security Officer - Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed officer at a dynamic education location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, perform routine vehicle and/or foot patrols, and help to deter security-related incidents through a visible presence. You will support access control activities, assist students, staff, and visitors with exceptional customer service, and bring a reliable, caring, and integrity-driven approach while working as part of a collaborative team.

Requirements

  • Possess at least 2 years of security-related experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control/badge experience is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
  • A guard card/license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, unusual activity, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report details through appropriate communication and documentation practices.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout campus buildings, walkways, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points and observe activity at the location, helping to verify authorized entry, direct visitors, and support site protocols for classes, events, and daily operations.
  • Assist with routine checks of doors, gates, lighting, and common areas, and communicate maintenance, hazard, and/or policy-related issues to the appropriate contacts.
