About The Position

As a Security Officer - Refinery Access Control in Kansas City, KS, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Allied Universal officer at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will focus on access control by greeting employees and visitors, verifying credentials, managing entry logs, and supporting site procedures for deliveries and contractors. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, confirming authorization, and directing visitors, contractors, and vendors to the proper check-in process.
  • Maintain accurate access control records, including visitor logs, badge issuance and/or retrieval, and key control documentation in accordance with site requirements.
  • Coordinate with site contacts to validate appointments and work orders, and communicate entry instructions for contractors and delivery drivers.
  • Monitor gates, lobbies, and other access points via CCTV and/or in-person observation, reporting unusual activity and documenting events as required.
  • Screen incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic as assigned, including checking delivery paperwork, directing trucks to staging areas, and following established procedures for restricted areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site leadership and/or emergency services when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Assist with site emergency procedures such as alarms, evacuations, and accountability processes as directed by post orders.
  • Complete detailed daily activity reports, incident reports, and shift handoff notes, and communicate operational issues to supervision in a timely manner.
