About The Position

The Security Officer position at the Surgery Center in Lakeland, FL is a PRN role responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises. The officer will patrol the area, monitor access, and respond to incidents while maintaining a positive image of the facility. This role requires a proactive approach to security and customer service.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Current CPR certification (or obtain within 90 days from hire).
  • Class D license preferred.
  • Two years' experience in police or security field; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
  • Active military service preferred with honorable discharge.
  • Computer literate with a minimum knowledge of Microsoft applications Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
  • Check doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are tightly closed and locked; note any unlocked doors/windows in a written log and submit information to the Director.
  • Observe activity and traffic in assigned area to enforce LSDC rules/regulations; alert visitors of infractions.
  • Ensure only authorized parking in company lot.
  • Assist visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, delivery vehicles, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
  • Respond to alarms and calls during scheduled shifts; decide on actions based on the situation and submit written reports to the Director of HR & Credentialing.
  • Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
  • Assist law enforcement officers with crowd control and surveillance during disturbances.
  • Assist in fire, safety, and disaster drills as directed.
  • Watch for and report fire hazards and unsafe conditions to the proper authorities.
  • Maintain proper attire and grooming standards while in uniform.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, demonstrating a positive image of LSDC.
  • Carry a cell phone during working hours for immediate communication.
  • Enforce parking permits of employees, physicians, and other health professionals.
  • Enforce lockers of employees, physicians, and other health professionals.
  • Control and track all keys to the Florida Ave and Griffin Road facilities.
  • Maintain current active CPR basic skills credentials certification.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.
