About The Position

The Security Officer position at UNM Hospitals is a PRN role focused on providing personal protection, safety, and security for patients, employees, and visitors within hospital premises. Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 6 months of related experience in a security role.
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers certification within 30 days of hire.
• International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety Certification within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• 3 years of directly related experience in a hospital security setting.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish or other languages such as Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo.
• Computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal protection to patients, employees, and visitors.
• Transport behavioral health patients as needed.
• Act as first responder to emergency situations.
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols to monitor safety and security.
• Maintain a daily log of encounters and duties in accordance with department policy.
• Respond to fire alarms and participate in fire drills.
• Provide escort services for patients and visitors as required.
• Monitor security systems and maintain proficiency with security protocols.
• Assist with ground ambulance operations as needed.
• Transport patients to and from requesting areas while ensuring safety measures are followed.
