Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Meet licensing requirements subject to state and/or local laws and regulations.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities across the campus environment.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting concerns to the appropriate contacts.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout academic buildings, residence areas, parking lots, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor access points and campus grounds, assist with directions and general information, and report maintenance issues, hazards, and/or policy violations observed during patrols.
  • Support school-related events, after-hours activities, and daily operations by maintaining a visible presence, communicating with staff and/or local responders, and following post orders for the location.
