Job Description As a Security Officer - Patrol Officer in Washington, DC , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a renowned cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol galleries, public spaces, and exterior areas, completing routine rounds, reporting observations, and assisting guests with clear communication and a service-first approach. Your visible presence can help to reduce security-related incidents while supporting exhibits and daily operations. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a cultural institution setting.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with site leadership and/or first responders as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of galleries, exhibit spaces, public areas, back-of-house corridors, and the exterior perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and/or identify hazards or maintenance concerns.
  • Control access points by monitoring doors, gates, and restricted areas, checking credentials as required, and directing authorized persons to the appropriate location.
  • Complete detailed activity logs and incident reports, operate radios and other security-related equipment, and communicate observations and/or concerns to Allied Universal and site management.
