This position involves enforcing policies and procedures with all patients/residents, visitors, and staff, patrolling and securing facility buildings and grounds as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• College or vocational education is preferred.
• Prior experience in healthcare security, contract security and/or law enforcement is highly preferred.
• May require a current valid driver's license with Sanford insurability dependent upon region.
• Basic certification by International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety preferred within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitors conduct of visitors on premises and confronts unauthorized persons for questioning.
• Reports safety, fire hazards or security violations.
• Responds to all requests for assistance from employees, patients/residents and visitors.
• Assists with any and all situations; i.e., problem-solving with positive outcomes.
• May escort personnel to and from parking areas as requested.
• Maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
• Prioritizes calls for service in order of urgency based on safety needs.
• Works in highly stressful situations to de-escalate situations as soon as possible.
• Maintains awareness of local laws affecting conduct on private property.
