Security Officer, Part Time

Mercer County Community College (MCCC) is seeking a part-time Security Officer to join its College Safety team. This role is essential in maintaining a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors across the college's two campuses, including the James Kerney Campus in Trenton and a larger suburban campus. The Security Officer will be responsible for providing a visible security presence, which may involve operating a vehicle for patrols, inspections, and incident responses. The position requires adherence to college policies and procedures, ensuring safety and security at all times. Security Officers are considered essential employees and are expected to work during business closures to meet operational needs. The Security Officer's duties include mobile guarding services, monitoring for unsafe conditions, inspecting buildings and grounds, and responding to various incidents such as medical emergencies, fire threats, and hazardous materials situations. Officers will also prepare logs and reports, communicate effectively with supervisors and public safety authorities, and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions. The role demands a commitment to ethical conduct and the ability to follow safe work practices while being aware of college policies related to job safety. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid driver's license. While related experience is preferred, it is not mandatory.
