About The Position

The Security Officer position at the Texas School for the Deaf is a part-time role focused on maintaining safety and security on campus during weekends. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of experience in security, law enforcement, risk management, or loss prevention.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient signed communication skills.
  • Training by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer's Standards and Education Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Prior work experience with children in a school or related environment.
  • Experience in security for a State of Texas agency or in a public school.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol grounds and monitor for unauthorized entries to campus.
  • Manning the security booth and checking visitors into the campus using the Raptor system.
  • Inspect and safeguard buildings, property, and equipment.
  • Direct traffic and issue citations as necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies including fire alarms and medical emergencies.
  • Document incident reports and daily activities.
  • Operate communication and security equipment, including security vehicles and camera systems.
  • Assist with general security tasks related to special events.
