Join Allied Universal at a high-visibility government waterfront location, supporting ferry operations through unarmed patrols and security-related monitoring of terminals, queues, and access points. You will complete routine rounds, remain present to help to deter incidents, assist staff and visitors with directions and communication, and document observations with clear reports. Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Have a TSA-issued TWIC.
  • A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, commuters, vendors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site leadership and/or public agency partners as required.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of terminals, waiting areas, dock approaches, parking and curbside zones, and perimeter routes to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Control access to restricted areas by checking identification, verifying authorization, issuing visitor credentials when applicable, and directing persons to appropriate entry points.
  • Monitor pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow in and around ferry operations areas, providing directions and assisting with queue management during peak periods and service disruptions.
  • Observe vessel loading and unloading activity from assigned posts and report hazards, suspicious behavior, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
  • Operate and monitor access control systems, radios, phones, and other post equipment, maintaining clear communication with operations staff and/or dispatch.
  • Complete detailed shift activity reports, incident reports, and log entries, documenting observations, actions taken, and notifications made.
  • Perform routine inspections of doors, gates, fencing, lighting, and emergency equipment, reporting maintenance issues through established work order and/or notification processes.
  • Provide assistance during evacuations, medical incidents, and other emergencies as directed by site procedures, supporting crowd guidance and coordination with responders.
  • Enforce site rules regarding prohibited items and restricted areas by making courteous contact, providing instructions, and requesting compliance consistent with post orders.
  • Support lost and found procedures and customer assistance requests, including providing directions, responding to inquiries, and referring individuals to appropriate resources.
