Security Officer - NYS Licensed Patroller
About The Position
As a Security Officer - NYS Licensed Patroller in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that helps to discourage security-related incidents. You will support access control and visitor flow, document and report concerns, and provide professional customer service and communication to staff and residents. Requirements
- Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
- Client requires proof of a high school diploma and/or GED.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation and timely notification of site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
- Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout the shelter interior, exterior, and perimeter to help to deter policy violations and/or unauthorized activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
- Monitor access points, verify identification and/or authorization when required, and maintain orderly entry and exit consistent with location procedures.
- Complete security-related reports and logs, document incidents and unusual activity, and communicate observations during shift briefings and post orders.
