About The Position

As a Security Officer - Main Lobby Screener in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As a Screener with Allied Universal at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will help monitor entry points, screen employees and visitors, support access control and badge processes, and conduct routine patrols of assigned areas. You will stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, document activity, and communicate clearly with site leadership and drivers. Bring a customer service mindset and act with integrity while working as part of a reliable, agile team.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

  • Alarm Panel Experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet is preferred.
  • Customer Service Experience is preferred.
  • Access Control/Badge Experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel, visitors, and drivers by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct entry screening at designated checkpoints, which may include verifying identification, confirming access authorization, checking bags and/or packages, and directing individuals to the correct processing areas.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound activity in dock and warehouse-adjacent areas, assist with driver check-in and check-out, and document shipments, visitor activity, and unusual conditions per site requirements.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including notifying site leadership and/or emergency services, completing reports, and preserving relevant information.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, including entrances, staging areas, and trailer rows, to help to deter unauthorized access and identify potential hazards or policy concerns.
