General Description The Security Officer II provides security services for OU Health by responding to incidents, assisting law enforcement interactions, and mentoring entry-level officers. This role builds on the foundational duties of Level I by taking on more complex tasks and reinforcing departmental policies through example and support. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Write parking tickets for illegally parked vehicles. Investigate complaints, disturbances and thefts by completing a concise and factual report in accordance with policies and procedures. Operate two-way communication system to send and receive messages following appropriate radio protocol. Record detailed shift activities and assist in compiling official documentation for internal review; May assist in reviewing less senior staff logs and forms for completeness. Assist in the training of new officers as assigned; may direct and review work of Security staff and review officer incident reports to ensure completeness. Coordinate movement of law enforcement personnel within OU Health facilities and ensure alignment with hospital policy during official visits and investigations. Serve as a point of contact for external agency inquiries; provide relevant security information and assistance during active investigations in accordance with OU Health protocols. Respond to emergency alarms and fire department calls; assess situations and report hazards or irregularities promptly to the appropriate authority. Assist in restraining individuals who are disruptive or in violation of the law in the OU Health Facilities, parking garages, lots and/or grounds while on duty.
