About The Position

The Security Officer II is responsible for the security of and access control to National Guard facilities and compounds in conjunction with the current Force Protection Condition (FPCON). This position requires the individual to be a Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) certified Armed Security Officer. The officer will control access to the facility by verifying the identity and purpose of individuals seeking entrance, monitor the facility using video camera systems, alarms, and personal inspections, and ensure the security of the installation by performing identification checks and vehicle searches.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience in security, law enforcement, or emergency responder work.
  • Knowledge of routine security practices.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to evaluate emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a current Armed Security Guard License through CLEET.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Control access to facility by verifying identity and purpose of individuals seeking entrance.
  • Provide identification checks at gate entrance and maintain logs on all visitors.
  • Monitor facility using video camera systems, alarms, and personal inspections.
  • Physically check each door and vault to ensure they are locked.
  • Provide security to the installation, including performing identification checks and vehicle searches.
  • Deny entrance to unauthorized individuals.
  • Prepare documentation and daily logs for all incidents and/or security violations.
  • Maintain a current Armed Security Guard License with CLEET.
  • Attend CLEET mandated training per year.
