The Security Officer I serves as the primary and initial contact for all individuals on the property of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). This role requires a professional demeanor and appearance, as the officer is responsible for enforcing corporate policies, guidelines, procedures, rules, regulations, laws, and ordinances. The security officer's primary duty is to protect BCBSM property from damage, theft, fire, trespassing, and unauthorized entry. In addition, the officer is expected to provide emergency responses during major events and deliver high-quality customer service while educating stakeholders on maintaining a secure workplace. The security team collectively aims to create a safe, secure, and friendly environment for everyone on the property. Key responsibilities include assisting in the enforcement of corporate policies at access control points, utilizing the Visitor Card Management System to issue badges, conducting interior and exterior patrols of buildings and grounds, and performing routine life safety inspections of emergency equipment. The officer will also provide escorts to vehicles upon request, perform executive driving details, monitor security systems, and ensure that all visitors are properly greeted and directed. The role involves checking ID badges, managing traffic and parking processes, and preparing security incident reports for various incidents, including crimes and medical emergencies. Additionally, the officer will build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and perform other duties as assigned.
