Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Handle With Care certification within 3 months of hire or transfer into the position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.
  • Investigates and manages all security incidents and hazards on the premises.
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans.
  • Facilitates planned drills and simulations.
  • Provides information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote their safety on the premises.
  • Patrols hospital premises to prevent fires, theft, vandalism and intruders.
  • Participates in investigations and maintains reports and documents relative to security activities.
  • Controls parking and traffic flow, enforces parking regulations.
  • Maintains departmental records, reports and files as required by supervisor.
