Job Description As a Security Officer - Government Grounds Rounds in New York, NY , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer at a government location, you will monitor entrances and common areas, perform routine foot patrols, and support access control and visitor badging. You will stay visible to help to deter security-related incidents, respond to alarms and service requests, and communicate clearly with staff and the public. Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 6+ months of security-related experience.
  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma and/or GED.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients, staff, residents, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation, coordinating with site leadership, and contacting local emergency services as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of interior and exterior areas, including entrances, hallways, common areas, and perimeter, to help to deter unwanted activity and identify maintenance and policy concerns.
  • Monitor access points by observing pedestrian and vehicle traffic, verifying authorization as required, and directing visitors to appropriate check-in areas in accordance with site procedures.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, patrol logs, and shift activity documentation, and communicate observations, hazards, and policy issues to Allied Universal supervision and site representatives.
