About The Position

The Security Officer at AdventHealth Daytona Beach is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, employees, and property. This full-time position involves performing security services, responding to security issues, and maintaining a professional demeanor while interacting with the public. The role requires active participation in customer service and adherence to department policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Applicable state driver's license and driving record in accordance with AdventHealth policy.
• Meets departmental testing (Mental, Physical, etc.) if applicable to facility.

Nice To Haves

• Basic computer skills including Windows, Word, and Excel.
• Knowledge of Access Control and CCTV systems.
• Understanding of Emergency Management principles.
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training certification or equivalent certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Organization provided de-escalation certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform security services through interaction with the public, patients, and employees.
• Provide security at specific locations and respond to security issues.
• Report suspicious circumstances and emergencies.
• Assist with access as requested and maintain safety of designated areas.
• Acknowledge and respond to alarms, determining their source and providing assistance.
• Utilize and maintain all issued equipment, including radio communication devices.
• Interact professionally with the public and provide assistance as directed.
• Document all crimes, incidents, and safety-related irregularities per department policy.
• Intercede in disputes using verbal de-escalation techniques.
• Administer initial first aid as appropriate and to the level of training attained.
• Participate in activities not directly related to Security operations as approved by Security Management.
