As a Front Desk Officer at a shelter location, you will be the first point of contact, greeting residents and visitors while supporting a welcoming, professional environment. You will monitor entry points, verify access, manage sign-in logs, respond to incidents, and communicate clearly with staff and guests. Requirements

  • Have at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, staff, and vendors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Staff the front desk to help manage access by greeting and directing visitors, issuing temporary badges and/or access credentials when authorized, and maintaining visitor and delivery logs.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and communication channels to help identify and report unusual activity and/or policy violations, escalating concerns to site leadership and/or public emergency services as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts when trained and documenting actions taken.
  • Complete required reports and administrative tasks such as incident reports, shift activity logs, lost and found documentation, and coordination of keys and/or controlled items per site policy.
