As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a renowned cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol galleries and public areas, maintain a professional presence that helps to deter security-related incidents, and support guests with clear communication and service. Requirements

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, members, staff, contractors, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities in a cultural institution setting.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including visitor concerns, medical calls, fire alarms, suspicious activity, and property damage.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout galleries, exhibit areas, lobbies, back-of-house spaces, loading and receiving areas, parking areas, and exterior perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards or policy violations.
  • Monitor access points and control entry and exit for staff, visitors, and deliveries according to site procedures, including checking credentials and directing guests to appropriate locations.
  • Observe, document, and report unusual activity, policy violations, and maintenance issues, and complete shift logs and incident reports per Allied Universal and site requirements.
  • Assist with crowd management during peak visitor periods and special events, including line control, gallery capacity support, and directing pedestrian traffic to reduce congestion.
  • Support protection of artwork and exhibits by monitoring visitor behavior near displays and responding to touching, climbing, flash photography violations, and other prohibited actions per site rules.
  • Coordinate with site leadership and local first responders as needed during emergencies, including supporting evacuations, shelter-in-place, and scene control until help arrives.
  • Use security-related equipment and systems as assigned, such as radios, key control, visitor management tools, and camera monitoring, and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to guests, including wayfinding to exhibits, entrances, amenities, and accessibility routes, while maintaining a professional, approachable presence.
