Job Description As a Security Officer - Research Campus Patrol in Chantilly, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a renowned cultural institution location, you will monitor and patrol galleries, entrances, and public areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will assist guests and staff with clear communication, incident reporting, and professional customer service. You will be part of an agile, reliable, and innovative team with a caring culture that puts people first and acts with integrity.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or contractors by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a cultural institution location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation and timely notification to site leadership and/or emergency services as required.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of galleries, exhibit areas, offices, storage areas, and perimeter spaces; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points and public areas for unusual activity and/or policy violations, help to deter misconduct, and support crowd management during peak visitation and special events.
  • Complete routine documentation such as patrol logs, incident reports, and shift activity reports, and communicate significant issues during shift transitions.
