Security Officer - Armed Patrol
About The Position
As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol in Syracuse, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Armed Patrol Officer at a busy retail location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to concerns, support store teams and guests with clear communication and customer service, and document activity with attention to detail. This role requires an armed guard card/license and reflects our agile, reliable, and innovative approach, teamwork, and integrity.
Requirements
- Possess an Armed Guard Card/License.
- Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients, team members, and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Carry and maintain assigned firearm and related equipment in accordance with licensing requirements, post orders, and Allied Universal policies and/or applicable laws.
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including verbal de-escalation, requesting law enforcement and/or medical assistance, and completing required notifications.
- Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout the retail location, including sales floors, entrances, parking areas, receiving areas, and perimeter, while looking for unusual activity and conditions that may help to deter theft and/or other criminal activity.
- Document security-related activity, incidents, and observations in written reports and logs, and communicate key information to site management and Allied Universal leadership.
