Job Description As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol Vehicle Driver in Spruce Pine, NC , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government corrections location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence, and respond to incidents with calm, clear communication. This is an armed, driving post requiring a valid driver’s license and adherence to AU Driver Policy requirements. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • An armed guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site staff and visitors by carrying out assigned armed post duties, security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or identify security-related concerns.
  • Control access at gates, entrances, and secured areas by checking credentials, verifying authorization, and directing visitors according to site procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to alarms, radios, cameras, and other systems as assigned, reporting irregular conditions per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, requesting law enforcement and/or medical assistance when appropriate.
  • Maintain visible presence and professional demeanor while enforcing posted rules and site policies in a courteous, firm manner.
  • Screen for prohibited items and/or contraband in accordance with site procedures, documenting findings and notifying appropriate site contacts.
  • Assist with movement control and traffic control on facility grounds, including during shift changes, deliveries, and special events as directed.
  • Write clear, timely reports including incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift handoffs, and maintain required documentation.
  • Perform required checks of assigned equipment and maintain readiness of issued gear per policy, reporting damage and/or malfunctions promptly.
  • Participate in required training, briefings, and drills, and follow use of force, weapons handling, and escalation guidelines consistent with post orders and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate and coordinate with site staff and other Allied Universal personnel to relay security-related information and support operational needs.
