As an Armed Patrol Officer supporting a utilities location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents, and respond to alarms and service calls with calm professionalism. You will document activity, communicate clearly with site personnel and/or first responders, and deliver customer service that reflects Allied Universal being agile, reliable, innovative, and people-first, while acting with integrity and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Prior Law Enforcement or Military experience required
  • Have a minimum of 2+ years’ law enforcement, military police, and/or corrections experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card/license.
  • Be at least 21+ years of age.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel, contractors, and visitors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Perform armed patrol duties in accordance with Allied Universal policies, post orders, and all applicable laws and/or regulations.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, generation and/or distribution areas, equipment yards, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized entry and/or suspicious activity.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, authorizations, and delivery documentation, and directing visitors and vendors to appropriate check-in processes.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and other site monitoring systems when assigned, and communicate unusual conditions to site contacts and/or responders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications, coordinating with site leadership, and requesting assistance from public responders when needed.
  • Complete security-related reports and logs such as shift activity reports, incident reports, patrol documentation, and key and/or badge accountability records.
  • Support security-related screening and escort procedures for visitors, contractors, and service providers in restricted areas as required by site policy.
  • Maintain readiness of assigned equipment, including duty gear and communication devices, and report deficiencies through the established chain of command.
  • Participate in required training, briefings, and drills related to armed post duties, emergency response activities, and site-specific procedures.
