About The Position

As a Security Officer Access Control Lead in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Aero/Defense, and more. Requirements

  • A current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • A current guard card or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific access control procedures, credential verification steps, and security-related policies at an aerospace and defense location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, screen authorized individuals and/or vehicles, maintain visitor logs, and report access irregularities or security-related concerns to site leadership.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following post orders and emergency response protocols for restricted and controlled areas.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for unusual activity, unsecured access points, and/or conditions that could impact operations.
  • Support security-related documentation and communication by preparing clear incident reports, documenting daily activities, and relaying important information during shift changes and to Allied Universal management.
