About The Position

As a Security Officer - Access Control Gate in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer at a government location focused on youth services, you will support access control by checking credentials, managing visitor entry, and documenting activity using computer and/or tablet tools. You will also conduct routine patrols and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, while providing professional customer service and clear communication. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of security experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site staff, visitors, and vendors by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government facility.
  • Control access at entry points by checking identification and/or authorization, managing visitor sign-in and badge issuance, and directing individuals to appropriate areas.
  • Monitor entrances, lobbies, and controlled areas using security-related equipment and visual observation, reporting irregular activity per site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting site leadership and/or emergency services as directed.
  • Complete required activity logs, incident reports, and other documentation, and communicate post updates during shift changes per Allied Universal guidelines.
