Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Checkpoint in Cedar Rapids, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a manufacturing and industrial location, you will help manage entry and exit points, verify badges and visitor credentials, coordinate with site teams, and complete routine security-related checks and reports. You will maintain a visible presence, communicate clearly with employees and guests, and support a welcoming experience. Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a manufacturing and industrial location.
- Control entry and exit at gates and/or lobbies by verifying identification, issuing temporary credentials, managing visitor logs, and directing authorized personnel to appropriate destinations.
- Monitor alarms, cameras, and access control systems for security-related concerns, reporting irregular activity and escalating issues per site procedures.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating notifications, documenting actions taken, and assisting with scene control as directed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, production areas, docks, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to identify security-related concerns such as unsecured doors, restricted area violations, and suspicious activity.
