About The Position

The Security Officer position at Houston Methodist is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors by patrolling and monitoring hospital premises. This role includes providing personal protection, traffic control, and emergency response services, employing approved defensive tactics as necessary to ensure safety.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Criminal justice, security, or related experience preferred.
• SECUR-N or SECUR-C State Licensure required within specified time frames.
• IAHSS-B, IAHSS-A, or IAHSS-S certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Valid Driver's License required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital premises to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and access points.
• Respond to radio dispatches and assess emergent situations.
• Communicate effectively with management and coworkers.
• Complete reports on occurrences and surveillance activities.
• Implement actions to promote workplace safety culture.
• Assist with personal security coverage and provide directions or information.
