About The Position

Under general supervision, but according to prescribed procedures, The GBMC Security OFC 3 is responsible for the direct supervision of their assigned shift. The GBMC Security Officer 3 assists the GBMC Security Officer 4 in the development, education, training and implementation of security policies, procedures and strategies to ensure the protection of patients, visitors, staff, property, buildings and grounds. The GBMC Security OFC 3 is responsible for the direct supervision of their assigned shift security team to include but not limited to scheduling, time and attendance, corrective actions, education, training, and ensuring the compliance of GBMC Security Department policies, procedures and practices. The GBMC Security OFC 3 is responsible for assisting GBMC Security OFC 2 and 1's with shift operations and/or administrative issues. Education High school diploma or equivalent Experience Security, corrections, law enforcement, military or fire/EMS department experience is preferred Skills Must be willing and able to work unscheduled hours based on the needs of the department Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines Must be able to read, understand, implement and execute GBMC Security strategies as depicted in the GBMC Security policies, procedures, practices Must be able to successfully utilize computer to write and generate reports Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills Remain flexible to ever changing environments; adapt well to different situations Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard Neat and professional appearance Ability to provide quality customer service Ability to handle both common and crisis situations, calmly and efficiently Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment)

  • Current State Driver's License which must be maintained throughout employment
  • Security Guard certification issued by the Maryland State Police that must be maintained throughout employment
  • Security Guard training by an approved instructor from the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission for initial and in-service training that must be maintained throughout employment
  • Current CPR certification that must be maintained throughout employment
  • EMTALA training is required and must be successfully completed within 90-day new hire probationary period
  • GBMC Work Place Violence Prevention Training is required and must be completed within 90-day new hire period
  • Current State Driver's License which must be maintained throughout employment
  • As a condition of initial employment, the employee must provide a copy of a current, CPR certification prior to attending employee orientation and maintain certification throughout employment
  • Security Guard certification issued by the Maryland State Police that must be maintained throughout employment
  • Security Guard training by an approved instructor from the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission for initial and in-service training that must be maintained throughout employment
  • As a condition of continued employment, employee must maintain current active status of all required competencies and certifications to include but not limited to CPR, EMTALA, Work Place Violence Prevention training
  • These conditions of employment are mandatory for all Security Officer's to work independently
  • Security Officers are not permitted to work independently if these conditions of employment are not met

Nice To Haves

  • Security, corrections, law enforcement, military or fire/EMS department experience is preferred
