As a Security Officer 1 for the Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio State Highway Patrol, you will be responsible for conducting routine security checks of the premises and performing safety inspections of equipment to identify malfunctions or safety violations. A key part of the role involves monitoring the operation of boilers and the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and promptly notifying supervisors or maintenance personnel of any issues. You will also be tasked with checking for potential hazards such as fire, leaks, weather-induced damage, ensuring correct lighting, identifying building hazards, and detecting unauthorized persons. The position requires responding to inquiries received via telephone, radio, or in person, and meticulously recording these actions in the appropriate log. Additionally, you will screen facility visitors, granting or denying admission as directed.
