Under general supervision, but according to prescribed procedures, the Security Officer is responsible for the safety and protection of patients, visitors, staff, property, buildings, and grounds.
Ensure the facility is provided with high quality security services to protect people and property.
Report safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing.
Build, improve, and maintain effective relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
Answer questions and assist patients, staff, and visitors.
Answer phones or greet patients, staff, visitors/employees in a professional, welcoming manner.
Experience in security, corrections, law enforcement, military, or fire/EMS department is preferred.
Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to read, understand, implement, and execute GBMC Security strategies.
Must complete and understand security training program requirements upon new hire onboarding.
Must be able to successfully utilize electronic dispatch system to generate calls for service and complete reports.
Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standard.
Candidates must demonstrate their ability to understand verbal and written direction.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to effectively deal with patients, visitors, and staff.
Must be able to handle pressure of working with high volume public.
Ability to operate a variety of machines and equipment including automobiles, office equipment, radio, telephone, visitor management system, access control system, and CCTV.
Current State Driver's License which must be maintained throughout employment.
Possession of Maryland Security Guard license or must file for license within first 2 weeks of employment.
Successful completion of post-hire training course including CPR/RQI, Stop the Bleed, and de-escalation within two weeks of employment.
Pay range of $16.79 - $24.37 based on qualifications, education, experience, and alignment with organizational needs.
