About The Position

The Security Monitor I, Community Corrections is responsible for supervising the facility population, ensuring safety, security, and sanitation within a residential correctional setting. This role involves monitoring residents, reporting suspicious activities, conducting inspections, and providing emergency assistance when necessary. The position is crucial for maintaining a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED certification is required.
• Work experience in the operations of a correctional facility is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Problem-solving skills to address complex issues.
• Must be available to work any hours and any shift.
• Completion of pre-service and other required training programs.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the facility population to ensure safety and security.
• Monitor resident activities and report any suspicious behavior or policy violations.
• Conduct resident counts, searches, and room inspections as required.
• Perform drug and alcohol testing as directed by facility administration.
• Process residents for intake and discharge according to established policies and procedures.
• Monitor resident worker activities and provide necessary instruction for quality work completion.
• Perform rescue functions during emergencies, including administering basic medical aid and CPR.
