About The Position

The Security Monitor I, Community Corrections is responsible for supervising the facility population, ensuring safety, security, and sanitation within a residential reentry center. This role involves monitoring residents, conducting inspections, and maintaining a secure environment for staff, visitors, and residents. The position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals in a correctional setting.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED certification, or equivalent is required.
  • Work experience in the operations of a correctional facility is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Problem-solving skills to address complex issues.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Availability to work any hours and any shift.
  • Completion of pre-service and other required training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the facility population to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor resident activities and report any suspicious behavior or policy violations.
  • Conduct resident counts, searches, room inspections, and vehicle searches as required.
  • Perform drug and alcohol testing as directed by facility administration.
  • Process residents for intake and discharge according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor resident worker activities and provide necessary instruction and oversight.
  • Perform rescue functions during emergencies, including administering basic emergency medical aid and CPR.
