Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Supervisory experience required
Computer experience required
Must possess a current and valid Driver's License.
Must successfully complete basic security officer training and meet requirements to obtain a license as required by the Texas Commission on Private Security (TCPS).
Must possess a Basic Certification, Advance Certificate, Health/Safety Certificate and Supervisor Certificate issued by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) must achieve certification within six months in the position.
CPR, First Aid, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and additional training as directed by the Security Department.

Responsibilities

Effectively administers performance management system include: developmental feedback goal setting assesses competency progressive discipline
Strong knowledge of and effective in administering hospital policies and procedures.
Responsible for sound management of human resources.
Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.
Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.
Supervise the job classes of shift supervisors and security staff
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the security department and activities.
Train, schedule and assign daily work tasks to security staff.
Attain and maintain competent knowledge of hospital layout including newly constructed areas and direct training of other security personnel.
Evaluate individual officers and group effectiveness in accomplishing their assigned objectives on regular basis.
Coordinate activities and efforts to protect hospital property against fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
Develop and implement processes/procedures to effectively monitor departing personnel and visitors to protect against theft or damage to hospital property.
Execute timely notification of the appropriate law enforcement agencies when or as needed in cases of unauthorized persons on hospital campus or law violations.
Conduct interviews, investigations, and produce documentation regarding reports of property damage, unusual occurrences, criminal activity or malfunctioning equipment.
Ensure appropriate administration of procedures involving pick-up and delivery of money or items of value from assigned locations to assigned destinations.
Investigate and follow up on reports submitted by security personnel; to include but not limited to thefts, burglaries, domestic disputes, accidents and child custody situations.
Input and retrieve data for response using basic computer skills.
Effectively administer performance management system including: department meetings performance review develop/coordinate continuing education goal setting assess competency progressive discipline

Maintain and update departmental policies, procedures, plans and guidelines.
