Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in a security management role.
  • In Virginia, security personnel are required to obtain registration from the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) in the unarmed security officer category.
  • Working knowledge of security and safety operations and enforcement procedures in an event setting.
  • Ability to exercise composure and de-escalate stressful situations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and execute programs effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing security management in live events, concerts, or music festivals.
  • Experience managing teams of 40 or more persons.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Operations Manager to ensure adherence to all security policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Monitor and authorize the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other individuals to prevent theft and maintain venue security.
  • Regularly patrol all areas of the venue to observe, report, and address any irregularities or potential security concerns.
  • Investigate and resolve security-related complaints, interacting positively with guests to ensure satisfactory outcomes.
  • Document daily activities and incidents, including equipment or property damage, theft, unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and discipline security personnel to ensure efficient department operations.
  • Manage security-related expenses by adhering to the department budget, optimizing resources, and ensuring staffing levels align with operational needs while controlling overtime and unnecessary costs.
  • Conduct regular meetings to communicate pertinent information and provide guidance to staff.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to security policies and procedures.
  • Engage in the venue's sustainability initiatives, such as waste prevention and recycling efforts, and educate guests about these programs.
  • Assist in post-event activities, including the collection of recyclables and proper storage of event equipment.
