Job Title: Security Lieutenant Dept.: APH Security Status: Variable Full Time Shift: Second The Security Department provides security for a safe workplace, on a 7-day a week twenty four hour a day basis. It has a manager and security officers. South Lake Hospital currently utilizes contractual security services (Miller & Miller Investigative and Security). Security is also provided at each Free-Standing Emergency Department Blue cedar ER and Four corners ER. Security activities include patient/visitor screening at each hospital, patrol of the interior and exterior of each hospital, manning of strategic fixed posts, parking management and enforcement, access control management. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for report writing purposes.
  • Must obtain a State of Florida Class “D” Security Officer License through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services within 120 days of hire which must be renewed biannually before the license expires.
  • Must obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 120 days of hire which must be renewed annually before the certification expires.
  • Must obtain a Basic Security Officer Certification or higher level of certification through the International Association of Hospital Security and Safety within 120 days of hire and always maintained during employment.
  • Two (2) years security experience, to include one (1) year supervisory or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain order, discipline, and security within assigned areas in the absence of the shift Captain.
  • Assists with the training of new officers and on-going training for current officers.
  • Provides input to the Captain for Security Officers’ performance reviews.
  • Communicates proper information regarding patient or non-patient needs to security team members.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
