About The Position

The Security Lead Officer serves as a lead for patrolling city facilities, parks, playgrounds, and parking lots to ensure the safety of persons and property. This role involves supervising lower-level officers, conducting security checks, and responding to incidents while maintaining a secure environment. The position requires carrying a sidearm and may involve shift work, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Five years of security experience required.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License.
• Certificate of Completion for P.O.S.T. certified courses in Powers of Arrest and Firearms Training (P.C. 832 (a)) or a valid certificate from BSIS.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas on foot and/or in a vehicle.
• Complete incident reports of all events that occur while on duty.
• Serve as the point of contact for any City-related issues that occur while on duty.
• Check security and safety of buildings, their contents, supplies, and equipment.
• Guard against fire, theft, vandalism, and other related dangers.
• Report and take action on problems caused by unruly persons, criminal activities, and violations of city codes.
• Cite persons for parking violations.
• Act as Sergeant of Arms at City Council meetings and handle mail between city departments.
• Question, detain, and may perform arrests of law violators.
• Restrict violent persons and prevent trespassing and loitering.
• Escort violators off city property and may carry a loaded sidearm.
• Assist law enforcement officers as directed.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of activities.
• Furnish the public with information and directions as needed.
