About The Position

The Security Investigator at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors. Responsible for conducting thorough investigations into incidents, potential threats, workplace violence, and security breaches throughout the organization. Works closely with the security team, law enforcement, and other relevant stakeholders to gather and analyze evidence, prepare reports, and recommend preventative measures. The Investigator will continue to perform security officer role by conducting regular patrols, monitor surveillance systems, and respond to incidents and emergencies when not conducting or leading investigations.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military
  • 1 year of investigation experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • MASADA Defensive tactical training within 9 months of employment
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record
  • International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Supervisor certifications within 1 year of employment
  • Heartsaver or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 3 months of employment
  • Marcus Crisis Prevention Program (MCPP) Tier 5, or equivalent, within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to function independently with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating and driving Children’s vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, including theft, assault, vandalism, and other security breaches.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents, ensuring evidence is preserved and collected appropriately.
  • Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects to gather detailed and accurate information.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and other agencies as needed.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports of investigations, including findings, evidence, and recommendations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of incidents and investigations, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta policies.
  • Analyze incident trends and identify potential security risks.
  • Recommend improvements to security policies, procedures, and systems based on investigation findings.
  • Conduct regular security audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to security staff on investigation procedures and evidence handling.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments to enhance security awareness and protocols.
  • Participate in security team meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with policies, state and federal laws, and regulatory agencies.
  • Stay updated on legal requirements and best practices in security and investigation.
  • Patrol assigned locations on foot or in a vehicle.
  • Check and report irregularities related to security & safety, policy compliance, parking concerns, and other relevant issues.
  • Preserve order and enforce organizational regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, visitors, patients, and premises.
  • Protect evidence or the scene of incidents during accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.
  • Act as the first responder to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, security threats, disaster, and other emergencies.
  • Respond to and intervene in high stress situations such as assistance calls from officers/medical staff, patient elopements, physical assaults, behavioral health de-escalations, and abductions.
  • As essential function of the job, must be able to successfully pass an annual physical assessment
  • Run/walk 1320 feet (1 lap around track equivalent) in 4 minutes
  • Pick up 50lb from squat position
  • Push/pull 100lbs for 60 feet
  • Climb 8 flights (4 floors) of stairs while carrying a fire extinguisher in 90 seconds
  • Kneel/squat for 30 seconds consecutively
