About The Position

If you have been waiting for your opportunity to get into the world of information security, then our Data Security Internship is the job for you! As a Security Intern at BambooHR, you will primarily be responsible for examining large sets of data, looking for security issues. You will also perform administrative tasks to enable our security program and work on projects to make sure controls are in place and operating correctly. Being trained on the job will be a BIG part of this position. We want to enable our team with the skill sets and abilities to prepare them for roles with more responsibility- making this a great internship for a graduating college student or someone with an IT background who is looking to break into security. If you have a passion for technology, love problem solving, and want to develop new skills then this would be a great internship for you!

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology with a security focus, or related fields, and are going into your senior year this fall
• Experience with Windows, OS X, and Linux is a plus
• Familiarity with networking concepts (how websites work, how ports and IP addresses work, how encryption works, etc.)
• A passion for computers and security
• Ability to travel to our Draper, UT office for occasional meetings
• You are available full-time (M-F 8-5 pm)
• A desire to learn and a “can do” attitude.

Nice To Haves

• If you have experience working with malware (defending against it, not writing it) or an Intrusion Detection System
• You can patiently help others who are having difficult technical problems that may take a significant amount of time
• You love technology and see it as a hobby on top of a career

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our IT Security team to address security concerns and help with incident response
• Monitor security controls and analyze the impact of their logs using SIEM technology and scripting
• Review and improve security and IT controls to ensure they are up to date and fully applied
• Work with vulnerability assessment tools and manage the application of patches
