Under general direction, the Security Installation Team Manager manages the capacity and staffing of the Install Team, leads the professional development and adherence to contract performance by using best business practices through effective management and mentoring of the operations staff. This role establishes team objectives and manages team efforts to achieve assigned productivity. It also drives compliance to the JCI Safety Program for employees and subcontractors, and is responsible for hiring, retaining, performance managing, and planning for career development of direct reports. The manager prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports. Depending on span of control, the manager may also self-perform project & construction management duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business or equivalent work experience
• Five or more years of progressively more responsible operations management experience in the Installation Industry
• Five or more years of direct management experience
• High-level competence in written and verbal communication
• Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences
• Able to lead and direct cross-functional and cross-business unit project teams to achieve business results
• Ability to lead, manage, mentor, and inspire others
• Knowledge of multiple levels with the supply chain org
• Polished presentation skills, multi-faceted thinker, and innovator
• Strong ability to negotiate, persuade and influence
• Proficient in software scheduling tools and applications
• High level project management process competencies
• Strong proficiency in MS Office (excel, word, power point), Adobe Writer, Visio, MS Project, basic windows environment, and internet business application usage
• Able to travel as required to support the area
• Utilize the office location as your base of operations

Nice To Haves

• Ten or more years of progressively more responsible operations management experience in the Installation Industry including five or more years of direct management experience
• Broad knowledge of the security and life safety industry (experience in one business is a must, multiple businesses is a plus)
• Proven growth leader

Responsibilities

• Manages the capacity and staffing of the Install Team
• Leads the professional development and adherence to contract performance by using best business practices through effective management and mentoring of the operations staff
• Establishes team objectives and manages team efforts to achieve assigned productivity
• Drives compliance to the JCI Safety Program for employees and subcontractors
• Hires, retains, performance manages, and plans for career development of direct reports
• Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports
• Self performs project & construction management duties (depending on span of control)
• Drives project excellence in all area teams
• Act as the ultimate owner in your market for all things security installation by supporting your team, our customers, the Market General Manager and owning the results
• Drives accountability for projects revenue and executed margin results by domain
• Ensures safety, integrity, and ethics excellence in the area projects teams
• Drives forecasting and actualization of projects revenue and executed margin against forecast/plan across the area
• Conducts on-site safety observations and coaching of team members and subcontractors
• Participate in customer meetings to support sales and resolve customer escalations
• Perform regular on-site quality inspections of work performed by our technicians and subcontractors and address substandard work execution through coaching and assigned training and development
• Assures work force levels are appropriate across the area, by trade, by domain
• Makes upward and downward adjustments monthly as needed
• Assures installation operating cadence is consistent and functional in all local teams
• Coaches and develops team members on all areas of performance
• Collaborates with the regional and wider market teams to assure all projects are properly staffed and there is a seamless delivery across the area
• Collaborates with Sales and Service leaders with the goal of operating as 1 team within the market
• Pulls in SWAT/Subject Matter Experts for areas as needed based on identified weaknesses
• Champions changes and Global JCI initiatives
• Provides feedback to Leadership for market trends, what is/isn’t working well, area needs and program deficiencies
• Participates in both Customer accounts and large, high priority opportunity pursuits by collaborating with Sales and the Market General Manager
• Serves as an active member in the community
