About The Position

This position is for a Security Guard within the federal system, with locations including Belcourt, ND; Fort Yates, ND; Winnebago, NE; Eagle Butte, SD; Fort Thompson, SD; Kyle, SD; Lower Brule, SD; McLaughlin, SD; Pine Ridge, SD; Rosebud, SD; Wagner, SD; Wakpala, SD; and Wanblee, SD. The role requires candidates to have sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the position. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs such as the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Candidates must clearly outline their duties and responsibilities in their resumes, including the total number of hours worked per week. Competition for these positions is restricted by law to individuals entitled to veterans' preference, with some exceptions for current federal employees. The basic requirements include a minimum of 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience, or 2 years of education beyond high school. General experience may include administrative, technical, or clerical work, while specialized experience involves protective work that safeguards property and maintains order. Education and training in relevant fields can also qualify candidates for the position. A character investigation may be conducted for selected applicants, and medical requirements include good vision and hearing capabilities. Candidates must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Requirements

• 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience OR 2 years of education above high school.
• General experience in administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work involving following procedures and providing services.
• Specialized experience in protective organizations involving property protection and knowledge of protective systems and techniques.
• Education from an accredited college or university in any subject is qualifying.
• Training in physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the Armed Services or Coast Guard performing guard duties.
• Experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or similar position safeguarding patients.
