About The Position

The Security Guard is responsible for providing protective services for government-owned or leased properties, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment, and controlling access to installations. This role involves responding to emergencies, enforcing regulations, and conducting inspections while adhering to established procedures. The position requires the guard to be armed and to maintain a high level of physical fitness and proficiency with firearms.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License.
  • Honorably discharged (if applicable) is a plus.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Apply written rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training material.
  • Satisfactorily complete a contract-required annual Physical Efficiency Battery (PEB) test.
  • Qualify with a 9 mm semi-auto pistol handgun using the agency's course of fire.
  • Meet any Federal, State, or Municipal requirements to work as an Armed Security Guard.
  • No record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture during the previous five years.
  • No felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on reliability, including those classified under the Lautenberg Act.
  • Pass a Background Check (DOJ Security Risk Assessment) and the National Agency Investigations Check (NACI) prior to assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Arrive at work in proper uniform and carry needed, issued equipment.
  • Exercise force up to and including deadly force when necessary.
  • Participate in Guard Mount, receive assigned post, and copy any extra instructions.
  • Carry out general and special orders for the assigned post.
  • Communicate via radio, telephone, and orally according to orders.
  • Interact and escort public and government personnel as required.
  • Provide access control, traffic control, and conduct walking and motorized armed security functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of uniform and assigned equipment.
  • Follow applicable standard operating procedures and government regulations regarding security.
  • Conduct personnel, vehicular, building, and facility checks, as well as package and parcel inspections.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Demonstrate continuing physical fitness and proficiency with firearms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
